Africa Freeport

About

A home for African art, on African soil.

Collectors of African art have long had to send their works abroad to keep them safe. The world’s art freeports, the high-security, climate-controlled facilities where art is stored, insured, viewed and traded under suspended duties, are in Geneva, Luxembourg, Dubai and Singapore. None are in Africa.

Africa Freeport exists to change that. We are building a dedicated art freeport headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda, to serve collectors, galleries, artists and institutions across the continent and the diaspora.

We are starting asset-light. Our digital registry, the Vault, logistics coordination and partner storage are available now. The physical vault will follow, financed by demand we can demonstrate.

What we believe

  • African art deserves world-class care close to home.
  • Freeports should be transparent. Ours will be KYC/AML-first and provenance-first.
  • Good records protect value. Every work in our care is documented.
  • Heritage belongs to its people. We work with museums and restitution efforts, never against them.
